What is metal testing? Metallurgical testing, also known as metal testing, is the scientific experimentation and inspection of metals and their alloys in order to compare their composition with a set of specific parameters, using industry-recognized methods, equipment, and skills, to determine their practicality in various engineering applications. Metal testing reveals the physical, mechanical, or chemical properties of metals before manufacturing, during the manufacturing process, and after manufacturing. Metal materials are examined in laboratories to meet industry standards and customer requirements.
Metal testing can be destructive or non-destructive. Destructive metal testing involves separating particles to assess their behavior under specific conditions. In this method, the metal is damaged and discarded. However, non-destructive testing does not cause physical damage to the metal materials.
