ASTM D1598 - 15a Standard Test Method for Time-to-Failure of Plastic Pipe Under Constant Internal Pressure.
This test method covers the determination of the time-to-failure of both thermoplastic and reinforced thermosetting/resin pipe under constant internal pressure.This test method provides a method of characterizing plastics in the form of pipe under the conditions prescribed.
ASTM D1598 sample Preparation Details:
Specimen: The specimen length between closures shall be at least five times the nominal outer diameter. or 12 inches, for pipes up to 6 inches, and at least three times the nominal outside diameter, or 30 inches, for larger pipes.
Dimensions: Measurement standards are in accordance with Practice D3567 or Test Method D2122
Preparation: A segment of thermoplastic pipe is inserted into a testing device, and hydraulic pressure is applied.
