10. Measurement scales can be converted to HK Vickers hardness;
11. Test data can be directly exported via USB;
12. Upper and lower measurement limits can be set and displayed on the main measurement interface;
13. Operating system can switch between Chinese and English;
14. Optional built-in printer available, and test data can also be exported to a USB drive for storage and analysis;
15. The cast aluminum housing is integrally formed, stable and non-deformable, with high-grade pure white automotive paint that is scratch-resistant and remains shiny as new after years of use;
16. Our company has the capability for independent research, design, production, and processing, and our machines come with lifetime parts replacement and maintenance upgrade services.
1. Metal Materials
Metal materials are one of the most widely used fields for Vickers hardness testing. By testing the hardness of various metal materials, one can understand their mechanical properties, processing performance, and service performance. For example, in the steel industry, the Vickers hardness tester is used to measure the hardness of steel, thereby controlling product quality and optimizing production processes.
2. Non-Metal Materials
In addition to metal materials, the Vickers hardness tester is also widely used for testing the hardness of non-metal materials. For example, in the plastics industry, the Vickers hardness tester is used to determine the hardness of plastics, thus controlling the quality and performance of products. Moreover, the Vickers hardness tester can also be used to test the hardness of materials such as ceramics and glass.
3. Composite Materials
Hardness testing of composite materials is also an important application area for the Vickers hardness tester. Composite materials consist of multiple materials, and their hardness testing needs to consider the properties and distribution of different materials. Testing with a Vickers hardness tester allows one to understand the hardness and internal structure of composite materials, thereby evaluating their mechanical properties and durability.
ASTM E384 “Standard Test Method for Microindentation Hardness of Materials”
ISO 6507 “Metallic materials -- Vickers hardness test”
The Vickers hardness tester uses a diamond square pyramid indenter with an included angle of 136°, which is pressed into the material surface under a selected test force (usually 49.03 to 980.7 N). After maintaining the force for a specified time, the test force is removed. Then, the length of the diagonals of the indentation is measured under a microscope, and the Vickers hardness value is calculated using the formula HV = 0.1891 × F / d² (where F is the test force and d is the average length of the indentation diagonals).
The core principle lies in the geometric similarity of the indentation, making the test results independent of the test force, thereby allowing accurate measurement over a wide range from very soft to very hard materials. Depending on the testing requirements, Vickers hardness testers are also classified into low-force type (<49.03 N) and microhardness type (<1.961 N), suitable for testing special samples such as thin layers, coatings, or metal foils.
