The impact specimen manual notch broaching machine is a specialized machine for processing V-notch and U-notch impact specimens. This broaching machine has a manual structure and can be equipped with V-notch or U-notch drafting tools according to customer requirements. The specimen notch can be formed in a single pass, making the operation extremely simple and reliable. The processed V-notch and U-notch (2mm) specimens meet the GB/T 229-2007 "Metal Materials Charpy Impact Test Method" requirements, and with relevant adjustments, they can also meet domestic and international standards; due to the single-pass processing principle, the uniformity of processing ensures that the notches of the specimens are qualified.

Principle: The handwheel drives the gear rack/screw, causing the broach to move vertically; the forming broach completes the notch in one pass, with precision and consistency better than turning and milling, and a nearly 100% pass rate.

 
Structure: Handwheel (loading/lifting the tool), transmission (gear rack/screw), fixture (positioning/clamping), broach (W18Cr4V, V/U type), stroke limit, chip collection.


Core Function: Perform a single drawing of V/U notches on a 10×10×55 mm blank, taking about 8–15 seconds per piece; the cutter lifespan is approximately 10,000–20,000 pieces. 


Usage: Used in metallurgical, boiler pressure vessel, automotive, shipbuilding, machinery manufacturing, and scientific research laboratories to provide standard samples for impact testing machines, ensuring data accuracy and comparability.

Operation Process

Installation: Ensure the platform is level (≤5 mm/m²) and securely fixed; install the broach firmly and align it; apply No. 46 anti-wear hydraulic oil / cutting fluid to the blade.

Raising the Tool: Turn the handwheel clockwise to raise the broach to the upper limit and confirm that the limit is effective.

Sample Installation: Place a 10×10×55 mm workpiece into the fixture, align it properly, and tighten securely.

Broaching: Turn the handwheel counterclockwise at a steady speed (about 0.5 r/s), allowing the broach to move down and complete the notch; stop when in position.

Removing the Piece: Loosen the fixture and take out the sample; check the notch and clean off metal chips and oil.

Reset: Raise the broach, clean the blade, apply oil, and keep it ready for use.


Safety Points

Wear goggles and gloves during operation, and do not place hands in the working area; never release the hand or turn in reverse while broaching.

The broach is sharp; take care to avoid cuts when installing, removing, or cleaning; check the blade regularly and replace immediately if worn or chipped.

The fixture must be tightly secured to prevent the sample from ejecting; after broaching, stop turning before loosening the fixture.


Maintenance

Each Time: Clean metal chips and oil, apply oil to the blade; check clamping and positioning.

Daily: Check broach wear, tighten bolts, and clean fixtures and guide rails.

Weekly: Check broach runout and alignment, adjust if necessary; lubricate moving parts.

Monthly: Calibrate positioning and clamping accuracy; replace broaches that exceed wear limits and store spare blades properly.


Sample Quantity: For batch production, choose a double-blade, double-station setup for higher efficiency.


Notch Type: For V-shaped notches, primarily choose a V blade; for U-shaped notches, primarily choose a U blade; for mixed needs, choose a double blade.


Standards: Select the corresponding puller and positioning block according to GB/ISO/ASTM/EN standards.


Space: Confirm dimensions and load-bearing capacity, and reserve space for operation and maintenance.
