EN 1939 tape adhesion test, Peel adhesion properties of self-adhesive tapes
EN 1939 tape adhesion test, Peel adhesion properties of self-adhesive tapes , EN 1939 is used to investigate the peel adhesion properties of self-adhesive tapes. This allows the user to understand the strength of the adhesive and indicates results such as peel adhesion and average loads applied. The EN 1939 test method is suitable for use with most self adhesive tapes and can indicate the performance of the tape in use.
The main concern of testing to this standard are:
Compliance with the standard
Data rate used to capture peaks and troughs
Gripping materials of varying thickness
Eliminating slippage throughout the test.
Pressure sensitive tape is used in a variety of applications including duct tape, electrical tape, masking tape, packaging, double-sided tape, bandages, medical devices, and other uses. ISO 29862 includes four different methods and two annexes (Annex A & Annex B) for testing the peel adhesion strength; the force required to peel a strip of adhesive tape from a specified substrate at a specified angle and speed.
