PIPE Hydrostatic Pressure and Burst Tester
Standard: ISO 1167 ASTM D1598
Hydrostatic pressure testing is a valuable method for assessing the strength and integrity of pressurized systems, ensuring that they can meet operational demands without failure. Hydrostatic pressure testing can evaluate these items by filling pipelines, tanks, or containers with water before pressure is applied to detect any potential leaks or issues.
Hydrostatic pressure testter is critical across multiple industries, from pipeline engineering to industrial piping. It helps prevent costly failures or leaks by verifying whether the system can safely reach the specified pressure levels.
Importance of Hydrostatic Testing
If the static hydrostatic pressure strength performance of the pipe is not qualified, the pipe is susceptible to rupture and leakage under certain working pressures, leading to the failure of the water supply system to operate normally, severely affecting the lifespan of the project and posing significant safety risks. Therefore, when pipes are used for water supply purposes, static hydraulic strength is a key indicator for testing the pressure resistance performance of the pipes, and it is also an important criterion for controlling the quality of the pipes.
Key Chalenges of Hydrostatic Testing
A: Test Pressure Setting
The pressure value needs to be precisely calculated based on the pipe design pressure grade (such as SDR11, SDR17) and the test temperature (20℃, 80℃). If there is a standard misuse (such as incorrectly recording the pressure value of PE100 pipes as 4.2MPa instead of 4.6MPa), it may lead to test failure.
B: Temperature Control Accuracy
A temperature fluctuation exceeding ±1℃ (for example, a drift from 80℃ to 82℃) will accelerate the creep of the pipe materials, resulting in a shortened test duration or misjudgment of the pressure threshold. For instance, a temperature increase of 2℃ can cause PE80 pipes to rupture 200 hours earlier in a 1000-hour test.
C: Pipe end cap Installation
The installation procedure for large fixtures is complex, the weight of the pipe is heavy, making it difficult to operate. If the sample is not circular and irregular, it can cause pressure leaks.
Benefits of Using Our Hydrostatic Pressure and Burst Tester:
1, Quality Assurance: With our tester, manufacturers can ensure that each batch of plastic pipes is subjected to rigorous quality checks. This guarantees the reliability of products and instills confidence among end-users.
2, Regulatory Compliance: Adhering to industry standards is crucial. Our testing equipment is designed to meet various regulatory requirements, aiding manufacturers in achieving compliance without headaches.
3, Streamlined Production: Achieve higher levels of efficiency in your production process. By utilizing our Hydrostatic Pressure and Burst Tester, manufacturers can quickly identify weak links in their pipe production and make necessary adjustments, leading to enhanced efficiency and reduced waste.
4, Increased Product Lifespan: Ensuring the strength and durability of your products contributes significantly to their lifespan. Our testing equipment helps to identify materials and designs that may lead to failure under pressure, allowing for improvements that enhance overall product longevity.
HYD series Hydrostatic Pressure and Burst Testing Machine is used to determine the resistance to the internal pressure (long-term hydrostatic strength) and instant burst strength of plastic pipes, like PVC, PE, PPR, ABS and other plastic pipes.
Feature of HYD-C series:
Computer controlled tester, and touching screen control (two way totally independent).
pressure 10Mpa (100bar), 20Mpa (200bar);
16mm to 2000mm HDPE,PE,PVC, PPR etc., pipe and pipe fittings.
Principle:
Test pieces are subjected to a specified constant internal hydrostatic pressure for a specified period of time or until a test piece or pieces fail.
Throughout the test, the test pieces are kept in an environment at a specified constant temperature: this is commonly in water (“water-in-water” test).
The following test parameters shall be specified by the standard or specification making reference to this part of ISO 1167:
a) the type of end cap to be used (see 5.1 and ISO 1167-2:2006, 4.1);
b) the test temperature;
c) the number of test pieces;
d) the duration of the test under pressure and the criteria for a failure;
e) the test pressure, p, or the circumferential (hoop) stress, σ, to be induced by the test pressure.
