ISO 6182-1 test for sprinklers Automatic sprinkler systems.

ISO 6182-1 standard specifies performance and marking requirements and test methods for conventional, spray, flat spray, sidewall, extended coverage, domestic and storage sprinklers, including early suppression fast response (ESFR), electrically activated sprinklers (EAS) and sprinklers with monitoring of activation (SMA) for use in water-based fire protection systems. This document is not applicable to sprinklers with multiple orifices.

The results of the assembly load test, 6.15.2, shall form the basis for calculating the upper tolerance limit of the sprinkler assembly load. The lower tolerance limit for bulb strength shall be determined using the results obtained from subjecting a minimum of 25 sample bulbs to an increasing load until the bulbs fail.

Each test shall be conducted with the bulb mounted in hardened steel inserts with seating surfaces having dimensions which conform to the actual mating components of the sprinkler. The inserts shall have a hardness within the range rockwell HRC 38-50. They shall be provided by the manufacturer each time the test is specified. The load shall be applied at a rate of compression not exceeding 1 .25 mm/min. The results obtained from the two sets of data shall be utilized for the tolerance limit calculations.
