Why do plastic pipes need to execute the hydrostatic pressure testing?
If plastic pipes are not made properly, hydrostatic pressure can cause them to burst. To determine the resistance of thermoplastic pipes, a hydrostatic pressure testing system subjects the pipes to constant internal water pressure at a constant temperature.
Assessing long-term pressure resistance performance:
Static hydraulic testing simulates the working conditions of pipelines under long-term pressure to detect the creep resistance, sealing performance, and pressure strength of the pipes. For example, buried polyethylene gas pipelines need to maintain a pressure for over 100 hours at either 20°C or 80°C to verify if leakage, rupture, or deformation occurs.
Ensuring safe use:
Plastic pipes may fail during transportation, installation, or use due to temperature fluctuations, pressure variations, or material defects. For instance, a rise in temperature by 2°C could cause PE80 pipes to rupture 200 hours earlier in testing; cuts or scratches may lead to stress concentration, resulting in discrete test data. Static hydraulic testing can identify these issues in advance and optimize the process.
